Haikou - Sea Deep No 1, a storage and production installation of semi-submersible deep water of 100,000 metric meters, will start production at the end of June, announced on Tuesday of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Ltd.
The Energy Station, developed and built independently by the CNOOC, is located on the Lingshui Gas Field 17-2 about 150 km from the Hainan province of the island. Lingshui 17-2 is the first gas field self-operated with deep water from China, with an average operating water depth of 1,500 meters.
It is expected to provide a total of 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. Guangdong, Hainan and Hong Kong, according to the CNOOC.
All teams have been installed in the power station, and the staff is performing the final phase of commissioning.
With a 150-year-old designed life, the deep sea does not have a maximum oil storage capacity of 20,000 cubic meters.
